| I don't know if you agree with me but I think the forum activity overall is too low and as far as I can see this committee isn't that active either. I'm feeling that I'm starting to get really frustrated because the activity is so low even though we now got a decent number of members and my hope was that this elected committee would really get things rollin'
What is it that we're waiting for now?
I've posted some of my basic ideas but I've got a few really crazy ones too but I feel that I haven't even got any real feedback from this group yet so posting those ideas now seems like the wrong thing to do. What do you think this new site should be? The brainstorming thread is depressingly empty and so is also my "visions" thread. What do you want?
The forum elected a steering committee and now it's up to us to deliver "something" within a reasonable time frame in my opinion. As I see it we're still at the starting line, well some are still left in the locker room or perhaps not even at the arena yet? In a taxi? Sleeping? DEAD???
My balls are starting get cold! It's cold outhere in the arena and the crowd is starting to look at me like I'm an idiot ;-)
I hope you understand that this is a poor friday afternoon atempt to be funny, don't you? BUT some seriousness is actually behind this post!
I know that a weekend is coming up and that the time zones make it hard to be online at the same time, but I would really like to see some posts soon about what you want and what you think of my ideas. I know that I use a way to put forward my ideas that aren't exactely smoth but the reason is that I'm "damaged" by the Discogs management who never listened to any of my ideas for 6 years. They never said the ideas were crap, just ignored them no matter how well I tried to explain the idea.
If I'm delusional then please let me know! It's better to know if somebody disagree with your ideas than just plain ignores you!
Now I'm going to log out of this "dead" forum = nothing new to read or discuss, and play some records at a deafening volume. My neighbours above are rebuilding their apartment so I'll blaim them ;-)

| I second your post with my icey testicles.
As someone that watched discogs grow and played a larger then most role in those formative years I can only say that this project can get done. In 01,02 no one second guessed their efforts, irregardless of the outcome and the outcome is what you see today.
Flat out, we've got to act while we have the will of the people behind us. Thats why I push for a web presence, a hokey mission statement, breaking up into group task groups, blah blah blah.
If these small things don't get done nothing will get done.
As storm says, if we don't show that we can make progress this thing really is done.
Agree or disagree with the details of an idea, we need to come up with something to move forward. We should look past our small differences and crank out the more obvious issues.

| I'll be full on in a few weeks, this is really crunch time for me and I gotta write a bunch of papers. Sorry, it's just bad timing. I have a lot of ideas, just no time to articulate them right now. | |

| Maybe we could have an initial gathering of minds this Saturday? Yes, that's tomorrow, but even chatting with a few people at the same time could get more organized ideas together from the flurry of ideas we have all over the threads and wiki. | |

| I'm going to play records really loud and drink a lot of alcohol together with my girlfriend http://www.discogs.com/user/Pikku (also a record maniac!) tomorrow from 2 pm until we drop but I'll try and join the chat as I really think we should discuss some things. I don't think she'll mind much as she was once active on Discogs too, even became a moderator for a few days before she resigned when nik said it was ok for other people to update "her" submitted entries into completely different releases :-( | |

| I've messaged all the group (possibly twice, because I don't really know how to use the group messaging feature) about this thread and tomorrow's possible chat time. Let's keep moving! Dz'oh - I forgot to mention that it was to be on this Saturday! Oh well, hopefully everyone will get the PM and we can get some things discussed. Possible topics for 12 April 2008: * pusha's SC Mission Statement and timelines, including the possible splitting into groups, and a possible chairperson * "Muddy" ideas and general thoughts * Everyone's personal answers to Kergillian's Vision questions* Other? | |

| Sounds good, let make it so and then. Right: Never used them myself but they looked promising when I was googling about for such a service. There be an FAQ at http://www.powwownow.com/voiceFaq/ and the costs of calls (unfortunately, for us Europeans long-distance) are highlighted at http://pdf.powwownow.com/index.php?c=USA&l=en . From the registering email: All you need to remember: Your unique PIN: 415306Your dial-in number: +1 641 715 3715Our website: usa.powwownow.com Participants are urged to have a few notes, questions and their version of a brief mission statement (not for the SC but the service we're building) ready during our little meet 'n greet session as suggested by "Stevie Nicks" above | |

| Couldn't we just use Skype for conference calls? It's free (if you have a microphone). But I think the general consensus is towards chat, as we can log it and display for others to see, and we can all "talk at once" and still be heard. And with logging, you can stop for food and come back to see who has said what. | |

| If some can't make it's ok, that was the whole idea of making the SC as large as it is. Whomever we do have join us will be appreciated, and surely we will get some things hashed out and the others have the time the can get themselves up to speed and help us hash out what we have hashed out. | |
