| The number of discussion topics regarding the new database is rapidly increasing. I notice it's becoming harder to find a specific topic, some topics contain (partly) the same discussion, the content of a topic isn't always clear from the title, etc.
I think we should get everything structured before things get out of hand. I think we can break down the discussions in a few general categories :
1. Our skills 2. Name - domain registration 3. Ownership, finance, decision-making 4. Income : sponsorship, marketplace and/or other ? 5. Technical : database format & structure 6. Submission process 7. Release submission form 8. Submission guidelines 9. Display options 9.1 Label page 9.2 Artist page 9.3 Release page 10. Search function 11. Other
For some of these a topic exists, for some there is none yet. My proposal is to organise the forum for the new dbase into several sub-forums with a structure as above. Then use a stickied "General Discussion" in each of the sub-forums, where the first post would contain links to the most important topics for particular issues, followed with some general discussions.
For instance, sub-forum "8. Submission guidelines" might include the following topics : - General Discussion (stickied) - Real-name alias for in groups - Allow digital releases or not ? - ...
What do you think ? Perhaps the specific categories might need some discussion, and some categories are obviously linked, but I feel a structure like this with sub-forums is the best option to keep things organized.

| This is a good idea. If the majority of users agrees, I will change the structure as proposed.
Maybe this can be merged?
6. Submission process 7. Release submission form
And maybe reduce this to 9. only?
9. Display options 9.1 Label page 9.2 Artist page 9.3 Release page
And a last proposal:
3. Ownership, finance, decision-making 4. Income : sponsorship, marketplace and/or other ? => 3. Ownership, decision-making 4. Finance: income, sponsorship, marketplace and/or other ?

| As I said, the specific categories might still need some discussion. - Quote :

6. Submission process 7. Release submission form Don't think so : 6. Submission process : the process how releases get added to the database, like how many mods to approve, 100% vote or not, policy on no-votes, editing pending submissions possible or not, submission limits, ... 7. Release submission form : which fields will be available in the submission form, which ones are mandatory, possibility to enter all data without using a mouse, ...

My idea was to have a sub-forum "Display Options", with 3 sub-sub-forums. But we could just as easily have 3 topics, so either way is ok with me. I also agree with the changes to 3 & 4. We might still make changes afterwards, or come up with extra categories. It doesn't have to be final right away.
