| I would REALLY REALLY REALLY like it if the board kept track of last read post on a thread-by-thread basis.
The way it's set up now, every time I come to the site I have to open separate tabs for all the threads and read everything that's new in one sitting, because if I don't, the "view newest post" links time out before I can get through everything. Which in turn means I can't come here unless I have time to read every single new post, which is why I haven't been on the board since Tuesday (was busy Wednesday, and from then until now I didn't have time to read everything at one go...). There has to be an easier solution.

| I also noticed that when you click on the last page of a thread directly from the menu and then go 1 page back cause you hadn't read all posts there, the unread indicator on the posts is missing. | |

| I agree! I've been pretty busy lately so something that I never thought was a problem is something I've noticed as a potential problem now.
In the Discogs forums you have to read the same posts over and over again... If there's a possibility to avoid that HERE by changing the forum settings to what lazlo_nibble sugests then that would be great!

I would like that too, but AFAIK it's impossible. I have been looking for this, but there seems to be no solution. Comparable phpBB forums have the same issue. A way to make this less of a problem is by enlaring the number of posts on each page. Currently it's set to 15, but I can enter any number I want.

| I think there was some mention of 30 posts per page, which I think is a good mark, maybe up to 50. I think the Discogs forum cut-off of 100 posts per page is a bit much, especially with the additional post padding (the subject line on each post, and profile / pm buttons at the bottom of posts, not to mention the side-bar of user info). | |

| I wouldn't mind having more than 15 posts either. | |

| - Changed posts per page from 15 to 30. Feedback welcome. - Changed maximum options per poll from 20 to 50. - Changed needed posts for popular topic status from 25 to 50. | |

| All changes look fine to me! The Poll change opens up for some interesting poll possibilities and I won't have any prblem with 100 posts on each side either as that's something we're allalready used to from Discogs. | |

Cheers for the feedback. Tried 50 posts on each page, but even that was a bit too much of a change at once. Maybe later.

| Yes this looks good to me also. To be honest I was quite keen on having a small page content but this works perfect. You mention going up to 50, I now don't think that would be a problem but lets not take it as high as Discogs.I get mouse arm scrolling those pages And dmaxx thanks for placing the 'Accept DiscographyDB...' reminder at the top of the page, good move. | |

| It is possible to send messages to multiple persons at once, by seperating the usernames with semi-colons.
For example, sending one message to the entire SC at once:
Username: [ asylum27; azzurro; deejsasqui; dmaxx; hmvh; Kergillian; little_alien; MR_E; pusha; quisquilia; ultra_ambient ]

| Just a small suggestion for this forum. At the moment when we log in we see the last past that was written in the 'About' thread. This makes the forum appear to be less popular than it really is. Prior to me adding my comments here the last person to post in the 'About' thread was josephschembri last Wednesday 14th.So at first glance, prior to logging in, it almost appears that the last post (for the entire site) was last wednesday. My suggestion is that the last comment, no matter what thread be displayed as being the last post. This forum doesn't seem to be as populated lately but we need to at least give it the appearance that people are still posting here. | |

| On another note; Is there a chance to leave topics marked as unread for the individual user until they are read so it would be easier to work oneself through the threads maybe in a few attempts if time is running short instead of "unread since last login" ? Edit : Ok, forget it I did not read this topic properly before posting | |

| The links within posts are black again, though I didn't change any of the settings. I have tried to make them blue by changing the CSS, no success so far.
Edit: looks fixed again. If anything strange occurs give me a sign.

| I have changed the favicon into http://discographydb.info/favicon.ico , I hope that's OK by the host. In case you notice (small) things changing in the forum lay-out: wasn't me, it's probably being changed by actieforum. Almost every other day I see something new here. | |

| dmaxx - yeah, I noticed they don't seem to be content with leaving things as-is =)
As long as it's still a free, functioning forum for us, I'm happy. Thanks for keeping on top of things around here.

| Are there any backups of the content in these forums in case the web site closes? | |

| ultra_ambient - the closest we have at the moment would probably be hermanito's effort to make a summary of the posts here, but I don't think there's a solid back-up anywhere.
Maybe dmaxx can copy the whole forum structure. If not, we could copy the pages themselves, or at least the posting content.

| Well, I think the rough version I have on my computer covers about 99% of all the ideas posted here. But many hyperlinks won't work anymore if this place goes down, which will probably not happen. They most certainly will have some kind of backup system I presume?
If they will close this web site we will be informed in advance I hope?
It wouldn't be a bad idea to copy the entire thing though.

| Making a backup isn't that difficult. If dmaxx has access to phpmyadmin and ftp access to the server it's quite easy to make a backup of the entire forum (including the look and all) | |

| There's an automatic daily full forum backup, which enables me to reset the forum as it was maximum 7 days ago. These backups, however, can not be exported. I don't think this is something to worry about because it's very unlikely that Forumotion (of which Actieforum is part of) will suddenly disappear, they are quite a big host. Even if they would, I think they'd have the basic politeness to give a full forum backup to every admin.
hermanito: I have no access to phpmyadmin or ftp access to the server.
